The tasks below are essential. In some cases, specific trainings are required by DC’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and DC Prep is legally required to report the names of staff members who complete specific trainings. For this reason, it is important to fill out the Onboarding Task Tracking Form for each task as you complete it
Task 1: Sexual Misconduct Reporting Training (Estimated time to complete = 25 min. Training is required prior to the first day of school). Purpose of training is to help DC Prep staff understand the School Safety Omnibus Act and DC Prep practices designed to adhere to all elements of the act and ensure the safety of our school community including preventing & addressing sexual abuse and misconduct by staff, preventing & addressing child abuse, and preventing & addressing student-on-student sexual harassment. Required by DC Law under Student Safety Omnibus Act.

Task 2: Student Mental Health and Safety Training (Estimated time to complete = 60-120 minutes. Training is required by 1st day of school). Purpose of training is to recognize signs of psychological distress, manage conversations with students to build resilience, and suicide postvention. Required under DC Law 14-56.

Task 3: Dyslexia Awareness Modules (Estimated time to complete = 90 - 120 minutes.
Required as part of DC's Addressing Dyslexia and Other Reading Difficulties Amendment Act of 2020. Online module is intended to help DC Prep staff understand the characteristics and identification of dyslexia, gain awareness about characteristics and indicators of dyslexia and reading difficulties, learn about universal screening tools, and learn the components of Structured Literacy and evidence-based practices for supporting students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

Task 4: Read Employee Manual (Estimated time to complete = 25 minutes), SY24-25 manual will be available at New Teacher Orientation and August Orientation
Task 5: Read Family Handbook (Estimated time to complete = 25 minutes)
Task 6: Special Education Cooperative Special Education 101 Course (Estimated time to complete = 45-90 minutes)
